This engaging and purposeful series of lessons enables children to gradually develop towards constructing vehicles using wheels and axles. The resources were originally created to guide children towards building safari buggies, but the resources can easily be adapted to fit your own particular project. This is the third lesson in the series, which focuses on making the wheel, axle and enables children to: -Recall how wheel and axle mechanisms work; -Recall key terminology relating to wheel and axle mechanisms; -Understand a clear design brief; -Understand how to put together a chassis, different types of wheel/ axle fixings and washers; -Test and improve their base vehicle. The resource is made up of a 12-slide PowerPoint presentation. These lessons were originally created for children in years 2 and 3, but may be adapted for slightly older and younger year groups.

This engaging and original assembly/ collective worship session aims to provide children with an understanding of the Saint Peter, particularly focusing on his him denying being an acquaintance of Jesus. It was originally delivered as the third in a series of three collective worship sessions on Saint Peter. The aims of the session are to consider: -The events of the Resurrection and Peter’s Restoration; -Peter’s role in spreading Christianity; -Lessons that we can apply to our own lives. The colourful and comprehensive presentation guides the worship leader and the children through the following journey: -Recalling prior knowledge about Saint Peter and establishing the basic information about who he was/ what he is known for; -Recalling how Peter had denied his acquaintance with Jesus; -Watching and comprehending an engaging, age-appropriate video (hyperlinked) which details Jesus’ resurrection and appearance to Peter; -Considering how Peter worked to redeem himself after Jesus had ascended to heaven; -Reflecting on our own spirituality - thinking about times when we let people down - how can we redeem ourselves? -Participating in related song and prayer. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. If everything is kept in, it takes around 30 minutes to deliver, but you may choose to edit or amend some elements of the session. This fun and original assembly is designed to teach children all about Firework Night, including: -Why we have firework night (the Gunpowder Plot); -Why firework night is fun for so many people; -How firework night can be dangerous without safety precautions; -Top tips for staying safe on firework night. The slides are visually-engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. A script is provided (in both Word and PDF formats) for playing out the events of the gunpowder plot. It includes links to well-chosen videos to emphasise/ reinforce key points, in addition to suggested entrance and exit music. There is enough here for a 30/ minute assembly (it is 17 slides long, plus a 3 page script), but of course you can cut bits out/ tailor to your own individual needs. No further resources are required, everything that you need to present the assembly is included.The assembly was originally pitched at primary-aged children (KS1-KS2), but would be suitable for older children with only minor vocabulary/ language adaptations. This assembly is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. It is comprehensive (26 slides in total) and the slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. For example, there are references to scenarios and dilemmas that they themselves might find themselves in order to help them to make the right choices in their own lives. No further resources are required except a blindfold for the challenge activity - everything else that you need to present the assembly is included. For example, there are references to scenarios and dilemmas that they themselves might find themselves in (for example how they might act during and after conflicts) in order to help them to make the right choices in their own lives. The session also includes an enduring real-life story of Nelson Mandela’s forgiveness of others, an engaging video depicting the bible story of how Jesus forgave Peter, and various discussion activities regarding how to show forgiveness in different areas of their own lives. No further resources are required, everything that you need to present the assembly is included. The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included two pages of notes to assist the speaker. This fun and original collective worship aids children in understanding the value of wisdom. It was delivered as the first in a series of three worship sessions on wisdom (available as a Bundle) although it works equally as well as a standalone session. In this session, a particular focus is placed on defining wisdom and understanding that wisdom sometimes means seeking support from others, to help us to make wise choices. This is achieved through: -Defining wisdom and thinking about how we can show the characteristics of being wise; -Identifying times in which we might need to seek support; -Reading and understanding a child-friendly reading of 1 Kings 3:3–15; 2 Chronicles 1:1–13 in which KIng Solomon asks God for wisdom; -Analysing a bible quote from proverbs about the value of seeking advice; -Relating these teachings to the lives of the children - considering how they can seek support both in their learning and at break/ lunchtimes (without relying too much on their teachers/ adults!); -Singing a hymn relating to seeking support and reflecting through prayer. It was delivered as a part of a series of three worship sessions on wisdom (available as a bundle), but works equally well as a standalone worship session. This is achieved through: -Recalling the definition of wisdom and thinking about how we can show the characteristics of being wise; -Thinking about what the word ‘hazard’ means and discussing what we know about hazards; -Watching a video of a reading of Psalms 23 (hyperlinked) and discussing the literal and figurative meanings of the Lord being our ‘shepherd’ and helping us to stay safe in the face of dangers; -Relating these teachings to the modern world - discussing how we can overcome the hazards that we face in our own lives (through the ideas of preventing, avoiding and overcoming); -Singing a hymn relating to the Lord guiding us through life, before reflecting through prayer.
